CgA testing measures the amount of the chromogranin A protein in a sample of blood. CgA levels are measured in nanograms per milliliter (ng/mL). CgA is produced by cells of the neuroendocrine system. Neuroendocrine cells have properties of both nerve cells and hormone-producing cells.
